 Scopes are great when the target is at a distance and doesn't move much, giving you time to make the adjustments necessary for an accurate shot. More zoom means smaller field of view so if your target moves an inch it's now outside your view through the scope and you have to find the target again

Open or Iron Sights are for closer distances where you don't have time to make sighting adjustments or your targets isn't going to wait for you to make adjustments. You have full field of view and can easily track a moving target.

split picatinny rail design allows for magazine insertion from either side to accommodate left hand and right hand shooters.
