2 Million and 5 Million Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) Rating

All Fox Premium Aerosol Defense Sprays® use organic pepper resins that have at least a true 2,000,000 Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating, all the way up to an industry leading 5,300,000 Scoville Heat Units. We were the first company to use resins with this intense rating in a 5% product and our formulas are still unsurpassed! In 1998, we became the first and only company offering a true 5,300,000 million SHU resin in a 2% solution. These formulas are legendary! Don’t take our word on it. Browse the Internet and see what people in general, and LE professionals specifically have to say.
Additionally, the word ‘true’ is very important, because some companies have their own systems of heat measurement, or they are not even using organic pepper, but rather something called PAVA, which is artificial (fake synthetic) OC, and not nearly as effective as the real Fox Labs stuff. What that means to you, specifically, is that they may claim their sprays have the same intensity as FOX, but in reality they are far weaker, and less likely to afford you the same kind of results when you need them.  Ask any law enforcement agency, and the'll tell you there's nothing else like Fox Labs.

ARE THEY LEGAL IN MY STATE?

Fox Labs pepper spray is legal in all 50 states! You can even bring it on airplanes in your checked luggage.  Here's a little more information on some state level restrictions.  Laws change all the time, so check your local state and municipal laws.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older to carry pepper spray
  • In some states, felons cannot have pepper spray
  • You can bring small quantities of pepper spray on an airplane in your checked luggage (currently up to 4 ounces)
  • We have to ship pepper spray using ground services (so you can't air ship expedite pepper spray orders)
  • Some states restrict the size and formula of pepper spray you can buy and carry, including :
  • Hawaii: ½-ounce (keychain size) only
  • Washington, DC: You're supposed to register your pepper spray with your local police department
That may seem like a lot of regulation, but most people in most states can buy nearly all Fox Labs pepper sprays.  You can also carry it nearly everywhere, excluding government buildings.
